The Ugly Gus series guitars are our first model with a bolt-on neck. They are a 25.5" scale guitar and use "Upcycling", which is finding another use for something that would normally be thrown in the garbage. Since the beginning of Virgil Guitars, I have been saving scrap pieces of shell, recon stone and other assorted materials that are leftovers from other builds. One day, I came up with the idea to inlay these "scrap pieces" into a fingerboard. What's cool is, the pieces require no sawing and it looks like pop art! There would NEVER be the possibilty of 2 guitars looking alike and we have some serious DNA running through these guitars, which gives them some extra mojo as well! We also use different materials for the pickguard and in this case we used a control panel from a dryer (as in washer and dryer). This guitar was built by my apprentice (and nephew!) Chris Mandanici and he presented it as a gift for his father on June 11th, 2014 as a gift.
